Education

Gibraltar’s education system mirrors that of UK’s schooling system. There are excellent private and state schooling options, providing the availability of choice to families with children at all stages of their education, looking to relocate to Gibraltar.

High standards in local education options exist to support students at every stage of the educational ladder; from Nursery right the way through to Comprehensive and Sixth-form schooling options. The possibility of pursuing further study in Gibraltar is made available by the state-of-the art University of Gibraltar and referrals to UK university education.

Free, compulsory education to National Curriculum standards is offered to every child whose family are resident in Gibraltar up until the age of 15 and concludes with GCSE examinations. After this, students may opt to further their studies for an additional 2 years to obtain their A-level qualifications. This can be completed at the brand-new Comprehensive School or at the Gibraltar College, which also offers an increasing range of apprenticeships and alternative options to further study, such as language courses.

Scholarship’s opportunities and bursaries for further education are made available to Gibraltar residents, should they wish to continue their studies at UK universities.
